-We can do no great things, only small things with great love.                                                                 — Mother Theresa

Everyone can be great because anyone can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t even have to make your subject and and your verb agree to serve… You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.                         — Rev. MLK, Jr.

We value volunteers, and invite you to join us. We believe in service that brings the community together, builds on its passions and strengths, identifies with the most vulnerable and marginalized in our neighborhood, and is rooted in partnerships with various groups and across divides. New service opportunities are always developing so we will regularly update this page. Find opportunities to serve below –

Ongoing volunteering opportunities:

Tutors of Todd – we are always seeking volunteers interested in tutoring children for our program at Green Valley School. If you’re interested in volunteering one hour out of your week to tutor, contact Jaimie McGirt.

Community Garden – there are regular opportunities to volunteer with our community garden whose mission is:

To be a demonstration plot for stewardship, community, education and service. Through community partnerships, we seek to provide a community gardening program that develops leaders in organic agriculture, integrates spirituality and faith, and distributes fresh food to address hunger in Todd and surrounding areas.

There will be monthly community work days on the fourth Saturday of each month throughout the summer, as well as other opportunities to address hunger through our partnership with several local hunger agencies. Contact Matt Gundlach if you’re interested in working in the garden.

Todd Listening Project- BCO is helping to lead this project with other churches, community organizations, and leaders to get to know more of our neighbors, hear their concerns and what they care about, and connect residents of Todd through listening. Some ways of volunteering are: being an interviewee, preparing and serving lunch on volunteer days and gatherings, data entry and processing, making follow-up calls, being interviewed, and more. If you’re interested in getting involved please contact Jaimie McGirt.

Special Events and Projects – join our mailing list and follow our social media pages to stay in the loop of monthly events and projects with which you can get involved!
