Jesus, You are good

I have been fortunate this summer to sing at a few wedding ceremonies for friends and family. I can get worn out from all of the traveling and being away from the Blackburn House, but it is such a joy for me to sing at weddings. I feel so alive singing into a microphone with sounds of beautiful organs or acoustic guitar floating through the room. It is especially sweet at weddings because of what is taking place and the incredible picture of Jesus’ love for us in marriage between two people. This past weekend I sang a song (lyrics below) at a wedding that reminded me of one of the most basic and true things I’ve ever known. Jesus is good. Jesus is good. I don’t have to know where I’ll live in a year or what kind of job I’ll get or all the “what ifs” of life. I can simply remember that Jesus is good and live trusting that truth. I know that things will fall into place. And my life will surely look very different than any future I have ever imagined. I am thankful that Jesus is good.

My life is Yours
My hope is in You only
And my heart You hold
Cause You made this sinner holy
Holy holy

Your glory is so beautiful
I fall onto my knees in awe
And the heartbeat of my life
Is to worship in Your light
Cause Your glory is so beautiful
Your glory is so beautiful

Glory, glory hallelujah
Jesus, You are good

What can wash away my sin?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can make me whole again?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus

Oh! Precious is the flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
