Arise

I wrote a poem today!

Arise

to come up, to surface, to begin

Arise

Pick up the forgotten bones scattered on the floor

Arise

Know that just because a heart breaks doesn’t mean it stops beating

Arise

You are not a pane of shattered glass

You are a mosaic piece in this stained glass window

Where your shards fit with others to make something new

Arise

You will catch the sun’s rays in your brilliant smile

And refract them over church pews

Arise

It is not too late to rebuild

Arise

The ashes aren’t too heavy to shake from your clothes

Arise

You are made of holy breath

Arise

You are not dead yet

Arise

You are not forgotten
